"The overnight stay program is a great way for prospective freshman to get first hand experience of what UM is really like. It also allows them to network with others and get to know people before they attend Maryland."

Overview
Purpose
Our Overnight Stay Program was established in 1996 to give students interested in attending the University of Maryland a better idea of on-campus life. Each semester, the Department of Resident Life provides an opportunity for prospective students to stay overnight in a traditional residence hall with a current University of Maryland Terrapin student. The fall programs are designed for prospective students, while the spring programs are designed for students who have been admitted to the University. The Overnight Stay Programs are held on the eves of Fall Visit Maryland Days and Spring Open House programs. As they allow prospective students to experience living on campus, it is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the University of Maryland, firsthand.
When
The dates for our Fall 2008 Overnight Stay Programs are:
- Sunday, October 12
- Thursday, November 6
Each Overnight Stay program lasts one night.
Women are asked to arrive by 6:30 p.m., men by 7:30 p.m.
What to Expect
While you are here, expect to get a good sense of what it is like to live on campus in the residence halls. During your stay you may visit our dining halls and/or Stamp Student Union. Other activities might include taking a tour of the beautiful Eppley Recreation Center, viewing a movie at our on-campus movie theater, the Hoff, and/or going bowling or playing pool at TerpZone in the Stamp Student Union. There is plenty to do on campus during your visit! Please remember that while you are here you are not allowed to go off campus, including Route 1 and downtown College Park..
The purpose of the Overnight Stay Program is to give prospective students an experience of on-campus living. Unfortunately, there isn't enough time to show you everything, so we recommend that you come earlier in the day to take a campus tour or to sit in on a class that interests you. You can arrange both opportunities by calling the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 1-800-422-5867.
