LAPLATA HALL

LaPlata Hall is an eight-story, coed, traditional style hall that accommodates close to 568 residents. Rooms range in size from single, double, triple and quad and each floor has a large community bathroom for residents to share. Located nearby are Byrd Stadium, the Campus Recreation Center, and the Stamp Student Union.

The Dining Hall and a convenience store are only a few minutes away. Most academic buildings and libraries are less than a 15-minute walk away and the University Shuttle makes frequent stops in the community for overall safety and convenience.

Amenities

Residents living in LaPlata Hall have access to a study lounge, a laundry facility conveniently located in the basement of the building, and a large recreation room for programming and activities. Each room is complete with data jacks for private telephone and computer use, and cable connections for each student. This is the only building on North campus with air-conditioned rooms. Some rooms are equipped and accessible for persons with disabilities.

Resident Staff

Resident Staff are available to assist residents with a variety of needs. Community Assistants serve as a main resource for the residents; they operate the building’s 24-hour service desk. The desk is the central location for which students pick up mail, obtain extra keys, and make other customer service related requests.

Two Resident Assistants live on each floor, along with one full time Resident Director who also lives in the building and oversees the entire staff. The Resident Staff is responsible for managing the residence halls, as well as creating a social, cultural, and academic environment through various programs.
